The Jackson County School System provides primary & secondary education to Jackson County.

 

Jackson County schools have an enrollment of 2,444 students and a 15-1 student-teacher ratio. A full 53% of all high school graduates in Jackson County continue on to college.

A private primary school, Annville Christian Academy is available in Annville. The school offers pre-school through 7th grade classes.

There are thirteen institutions of higher learning located within 80 miles of McKee. Colleges and universities with their mileage from McKee indicated include: Berea College (24), Eastern Kentucky University (33), Lexington Community College (63), University of Kentucky (63),  Somerset Community College (69), Barnabas House, Laurel Technical College.

Kentucky Tech schools are operated by the Cabinet for Workforce Development and provide secondary and post secondary vocational-technical training.

Three Kentucky Tech campuses are within a half hour drive of McKee. The Clay County Area Technology Center, located in Manchester, 29 miles from McKee offers 7 different programs of study. The Laurel County Regional Technology Center, located in London, 36 miles from McKee offers 11 different programs of study. Jackson County Area Technical School is located in Mckee and has several areas of study to choose from.

The Kentucky Tech system, through its Training and Development Coordinators, will provide technical assistance and will identify and develop low-cost customized training programs and services for both established and prospective businesses. Businesses wanting to establish a customized training program should contact a Training and Development Coordinator located on the Campus of the Laurel County Regional Technology Center.

Kentucky Tech Career Connections offers to business, education, and government agencies testing packages for evaluating job applicants, selecting employees for promotional consideration, and developing training programs within the organization. A Career Connections Assessment Center is located at the Laurel County Regional Technology Center.

Adult education programs are available to adults who want to develop new skills, improve basic skills, or earn a high school equivalency diploma. In Jackson County, adult education is provided by the Jackson County Board of Education and adult literacy programs are provided through the Appalachian Communities for Children.
