Jackson County EZ Community, Inc. is a Federally funded, non-profit corporation that was founded in May 1995 as a result of Empowerment Zone designation.

The mission of the EZ is to develop and utilize grassroots community involvement in community development-from planning to allocation of funds.

To ensure grassroots involvement, an organizational structure was developed and implemented early in the process. A twelve-member Board of Directors governs Jackson County EZ Community, and there is a subcommittee and project group structure that relies on public participation.

    • Economic Opportunity Subcommittee
    • Tourism Subcommittee
    • Infrastructure Subcommittee
    • Quality of Life Subcommittee
    • Housing Project
